In our lives, it often feels like we are tossed by the storms of external circumstances, our emotions holding us hostage to events, people, and experiences. Yet, deep down, there's a truth waiting to be realized—a profound realization inspired by A Course in Miracles: "Nothing real can be threatened." Imagine a world where every part of your essence, the very core of your being, is unassailable, invulnerable to the transient dramas of life. This is the world the Course invites us to see—a world where the eternal in us remains unchanged. Think of a pearl deep within an oyster, unaffected by the currents of the ocean, or the sun that consistently shines despite the clouds that occasionally obscure it. That is your true nature—steady, radiant, and imperturbable.

Seeing Beyond the Mirage

The Dance of Shadows and Light

The following words from the Course gently nudge us toward a profound truth: "Nothing unreal exists." If we pause and reflect upon this, it implies that a vast majority of what we worry about, the fears and anxieties that keep us up at night, are about things that are fundamentally unreal. These are the shadows cast by our thoughts, the mirages we mistake for reality. Just as a desert traveler might be fooled by a mirage of water, we often chase after or run from things that don't have any lasting substance. Remember, our perceptions can deceive us. If we can shift our perception, seeing past the illusions, we can navigate life with a sense of lightness and play, much like a child who has awakened from a dream and realizes the monsters weren’t real after all.
